I have received my first check for the ads on the site and it just barely covers hosting costs, but I am going to pay the hosting myself and put the money toward a prize for the best theme (Any theme that has been added in the last week and future themes are eligible for the contest). I want to do a nice prize like a 2TB hard drive or something similar, but I feel that we just dont have enough users to make it worth while. There are lots of great themes on here, but we need to get more people involved.... If anyone here has a site and wouldnt mind helping to drive more people here to submit themes then I have no problem increasing the size of the prize for the best theme.

As for the rules of the contest, its still up in the air whether this will be just for the xbox site or for the wii theme site as well. Also debating on exactly how to set up the contest and who can vote ect.

If anyone wants to provide their feedback on this matter, please do.

Honestly,

You would drive more traffic in here with WII themes, but it it wouldn't be an xbox exclusive community anymore.

I would say go with whichever you think is best.

I guess not everyone realizes there is a site set up for Wii Themes.... http://wii.spiffy360.com and quite a bit of them actually. The USB Loader GX software actually has a feed to my site and downloads the themes directly. It would be cool if the Freestyle makers did something similar and I would be fine providing them an XML feed to the themes in exchange for some advertising

I doubt they would advertise anything really, if they were to include it into their source code; what would happen if your site went down or decided to take a dump? And only God knows how much we hate advertising.

That makes me think of ideas, hmm...

That is a good point, but my site has as much of a chance of taking a dump as any other site. Advertising really does suck and I started out with no advertising on these sites, but needed some help with ads, so I put up Google ads throughout the site only if you were not logged in. The forum still shows ads either way, but I try to limit the ads as much as possible. Anyway I figure if they want to put up a link on their official Freestyle site for an "official theme site" and link here, that would be cool. Thats what USB Loader GX does for the Wii.
