- Freestyle Dash may be referred to in this FAQ as FSD
- This FAQ is an ongoing work in progress.

Freestyle Dash

    1. What is Freestyle Dash?

Freestyle Dash is a customized dashboard for use with Xbox 360 consoles. It can be used as a separate dashboard or it can replace your standard NXE dashboard.

    2. How do I install Freestyle Dash?

Freestyle Dash comes with an intsallation readme file that is pretty straight forward. Please read it, if you still do not understand, post a topic for help.

    3. How do I install a FSD Theme/Skin?

FSD SKins/Themes come in two forms. A single file with the .xzp extention, or or folder containing several files.

The first step is to make sure that the skin you are going to install is compatible with the version of FSD that you are using. Skins are typically not interchangable between versions. I.E. A v1.20 skin will not work with v2.0.

The next step is to place the actual skin file(s) into the Skin directory where you have FSD installed. This could be several places and there are several methods to go about this, but we will assume if you have FSD installed, you know how to get files to your Xbox 360/HDD's. If you have a single file .xzp skin, simple place it into the Skins folder in your FSD directory. If your skin is one that contains multiple files, you install the same way, but make sure that you have a root folder for the skin such as FSD/Skins/ThemeName/, placing the files in ThemeName.

NOTE: Make sure you are copying your theme to the skin folder where FSD is installed in (I.E. FSD/Skins) and NOT the fsddata/skins folder. This folder is used by FSD for config files and data.

    4. How can I boot directly into FSD?

This requires a another application called Dash Launch.
Make sure that you are running the current dash (9199) and then download and install Dash Launch v2.02. Intructions are included on how to use.

Copy xuipkg.exe from the SDK into a folder along with the theme.xzp and open a command prompt. change into the directory and type xuipkg.exe /U theme.xzp

    2. How can I zip up my theme into an .xzp archive?

Copy xuipkg.exe from the SDK into the same folder as your skin. Open a command prompt and change the directory to where your skin is located. Run xuipkg /O newthemename.xzp /R *.*
